LIBRARY INFORMATION

LIBRARY HOURS

Chief Kanim’s Library is open Monday through Thursday from 7:10 to 12:25 and from 12:55 to 2:50.  On Friday hours are from 7:10 to 12:23.  You are cordially invited to come in on your own before school, during lunch or after school!  Other times, come in with a pass from your teacher or with your class.

LIBRARIAN

CKMS’s  Librarian is Ms. Janna Treisman (“Ms. T” is fine!).  Call the Library at 425.831.8234 or email Ms. T at tresimanj@snoqualmie.k12.wa.us.

LIBRARY RULES

Show RESPECT  and demonstrate RESPONSIBILITY.

LISTEN when Ms. T or another teacher is talking to the group or when a student or guest is making a presentation.

WORK so as not to disturb others.

ENJOY YOUR LIBRARY!!!

CHECK-OUT and CHECK-IN

You may check out up to 3 books and 2 magazines.  Bring them to the Circulation Desk and give the librarian or aide your 6 digit CKMS Student ID#.  (We can look up your number if you forget it, though it’s faster if you know it!)  The books and/or magazines will be due in 2 weeks.  You may renew for another 2 weeks.  You do not need to bring the item to the library to renew it – the computer keeps track of what you have checked out and can renew given your ID#.!

If you have overdue items, you must return them before checking out anything else.

To return an item just slip it in the “RETURN BOOKS HERE” slot at the Circulation Desk, the same place you checked out your books.

COMPUTERS and PRINTER

The library has 11 fully networked  computers for student use, and a teacher station connected to a projector.  All computers can access the internet, OPAC (the Online Public Access Catalog, which replaced the library’s card catalog several years ago) There is also one computer dedicated solely to OPAC, which has the entire CKMS library collection in an easy-to-search data base.  Students may print documents to the black and white printer.  (Color printing must be done in the lab with the classroom teacher.)

VOLUNTEERS and T.A.’s

Parent Volunteers and TA’s are invaluable and greatly appreciated.  Their responsibilities include assisting with check-in and check-out, reshelving books and magazines, book repair, keeping the library clean and tidy, replenishing supplies in the library and workroom, deliveries to teachers, and lots of other things!

If you would like to volunteer in the library, please contact Ms. Treisman – she’d love your help!
